“To Be, or to BnB?” That is the question raised by this year’s Film and Architecture Festival.
The jubilee 15th edition of the international Film and Architecture festival will focus on the theme of housing as one of the most pressing social issues of today. From Wednesday, September 30 to Monday, October 5, it will present contemporary international film productions examining various forms of home in Prague, Brno, and two dozen other cities. Under the motto “To Be, or to BnB“, the festival will explore collective and affordable housing, the transformation of cities and public spaces, architectural visions influencing the quality of everyday life, as well as the impacts of gentrification and changes in the urban environment. According to Václav Ševčík, the festival’s curator: “Housing is a rewarding filmmaking topic that has been approached from many perspectives, especially in recent years. Audiences can look forward to investigative critiques, inspiring stories on how to overcome the crisis, and iconic houses by world-renowned architects,”
This unique showcase of films about architecture, design, and art will feature three dozen films from predominantly international filmmakers. As every year, it will be accompanied by debates with industry experts and creators. Most of the showcased films will have their Czech premiere. Running parallel to the Film and Architecture Festival is the Day of Architecture festival, which will expand on the theme of housing from other perspectives.
The complete program will be published at the end of August on the website www.filmarchitektura.cz.
