The Architecture Day festival offers from September 30 to October 6 three hundred free events in a hundred cities throughout the Czech Republic and Slovakia, and invites you to excursions to normally inaccessible buildings, architectural walks, bike rides, lectures and a program for children. This year’s motto is “Don’t demolish, transform!” and the festival thus largely focuses on the ecological, economic and ethical dimensions of architecture and construction and will present successful solutions for reconstruction and revitalization. The program will also commemorate the personality of the Slovenian architect Josip Plečnik, whose birth has passed 150 years this year, and will also present his followers and colleagues from the Vienna School of Otto Wagner. The festival will also pay tribute to the Czech architect Alena Šrámková. The complete program is available at www.denarchitektury.cz/en.
